Diplomats lauded for facilitating business and economic growth in the UAE

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized Diplomatic Circle Dinner for diplomats in the UAE at Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai on Monday 28 Mar 2016.
The dinner meeting was attended by over 140 diplomats, in the presence of Dubai Chamber Board Members led by H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, and H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice-Chairman as well as H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber.
Mr. Al Ghurair commended the role of the diplomatic community in facilitating business ties between Dubai and their respective countries. He stressed on Dubai Chamber’s commitment to support Dubai businesses operating in the emirate while enhancing their competitiveness in the overseas markets. He also spoke on the bilateral and economic cooperation enjoyed by the emirate’s business community with their global counterparts while lauding the diplomatic corps’ crucial role in supporting the development of the economic relations. Al-Ghurair is also the head of Mashreq Bank, a leading United Arab Emirates commercial bank  Al Ghurair chairs the Arab Business Angels Network, an organisation that seeks to match angel investment funding with startups by Arab entrepreneurs.
Mr. Buamim stated that the drivers of the emirate’s economic growth including trade, tourism, logistics and financial services performed extremely well, which reflected on Dubai’s position as an attractive investment destination and a global hub for trade and finance. He added that Dubai economy grew by 3.5 to 4% during the year 2015. He also said that the Chamber is looking to expand into Africa, CIS and Latin America as well as to focus on Islamic economy.
The Chamber will organize the 3rd Global Islamic Economy Summit and World Retail Congress and a series of trade missions to promising markets of the world.
