Dubai Builds Rainforest Inside a Hotel

Dubai builds a tropical rainforest inside a posh hotel.

Dubai is all set to surprise the world by creating a rainforest inside a skyscraper, a first of its kind in the world. A part of the upcoming Rosemont Hotel and Residences Dubai, the rainforest spreads 7,000 square metres. The Rosemont Hotel and Residences complex, expected to be ready to greet guests by 2018, comprises two 53-story towers including, a 448-key hotel and a 280-room luxurious serviced apartment tower. The hotel complex will be located at Dubai’s business center, next to Dubai Internet City and Al Kazim Towers.

ZAS Architects Dubai teams up with Germany-based architecture and interior design consulting firm Kieferle and Partner to design this family-friendly leisure place. The rainforest features a tropical environment with amenities such as a sandless beach, adventure trails, a splash pool, streams, waterfalls, and a rainforest cafe, says DJ Armin, principal architect and managing partner of ZAS Architects, Dubai. Technological features of the rainforest involve an advanced sensory rain system to create a 360-degree experience, replicating the sensation of being surrounded by rainfall without getting wet,” he adds. A prehistoric Jurassic-inspired Marsh will also be facilitated inside the rainforest. The outdoor rainforest will be situated on the top level of the entertainment podium that connects the hotel and residential towers.

Apart from ultra-modern food and beverage outlets, the Rosemont Hotel offers digital waterfalls, robotic luggage handling, and kinetic light sculptures, among others. The Rosemont hotel will be operated by ‘Curio Collection’, a brand that comes under the umbrella of Hilton Worldwide, one of the major hotel operators in the world.
