Dubai start-up Wins $50,000

E-commerce start-up, Marhababy, wins Create@Alibaba $50K Cloud Startup Contest in Dubai.

The cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, Alibaba Cloud, and the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), jointly hosted Dubai session of Create@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest (CACSC) yesterday, September 21 at the Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre (DTEC), a technology incubation centre owned by DSOA. Ten local startups representing various sectors, including such as e-commerce, multimedia, online-to-offline (O2O), gaming,  social media, and Internet of Things, participated in the regional final. Marhababy came out first as the winner of the Middle East regional final and will compete in the world final held in China later this year.

CACSC, a part of the Alibaba Cloud’s global startup program, Create@Alibaba Cloud, is engaged in supporting startups and maximising their potential through Alibaba’s exhaustive support network and innovative suite of cloud infrastructure services.

Founded in 2013 by a Dutch female entrepreneur in Dubai, Eveline Sleeboom, Marhababy is an online hub for new and expectant mothers. Eveline established Marhababy while she was expecting her first baby and it became a one-stop shop for vital information on becoming a parent. Marhababy offers valuable tips to tackling breastfeeding, up-to-the-minute reports on child safety, and free of charge ‘Marhababy Boxes’ packed with all the essentials to help care for the new-born baby.

Alibaba Cloud, a subsidiary of China-based e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, provides cloud computing services comprising IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, big data and bespoke solutions. It was founded in 2009 by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma and headquartered in Hangzhou, China.
