Dubai Holding has officially announced the launch of a new city district facing Shaikh Zayed road which will lead home to about 35,000 residents. The Jumeirah Central project comprises 9 million sq ft of retail space and 7,200 hotel rooms, introducing new international standards in city planning. The new city will have smart, world-class infrastructure, including a multi-model transport network, comprising aerial gondolas, more than 1 million sq ft of climate-controlled arcades, and a cycling network spreading through 33 parks and open-air spaces, says Dubai Holdings. There will be 25 points of access for cars into the new district that contains schools, offices, and parking for more than 44,000 cars. Hotels will be built in a new tourism destination named’ Jumeirah Central.’ Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai launched the project at a private ceremony. The work on developing the project involves 19 government and private agencies over a period of two years.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, chairman of Dubai Holding, said that Jumeirah Central is a result of comprehensive research into future urban development and the creation of more close-knit societies.
